How to find knots or mat on my dog?

It’s the season for matting ❄️

Why? Because the weather is getting colder, and our fur babies tend to grow longer coats to keep warm.

Brushing your dog is important, but being able to spot knots and mats is just as important.

I often hear customers say:

“But I brush my dog every day!”

Then their pup arrives at the salon completely matted. So what happened? Are we looking at the same dog? How can mats seem to appear overnight?

The truth is, mats usually build up gradually underneath the coat before they become visible on the surface.

Training your eyes to spot knots early can save a lot of time and make brushing much more effective. Even as groomers, learning to identify knots in the coat is one of the first things we practise when becoming professionals.
