Why does dog hop or skip when walking?

Have you ever seen your dog suddenly skip or hop while walking?🐶

It might be something called patella luxation, a condition where a dog’s kneecap slips out of place.

I’ve had a few customers tell me that their dogs needed surgery because of patella luxation, which is why I wanted to bring more awareness to this.

It’s actually quite common in small breeds.

🐾Signs to watch for:

• Skipping when walking

• Holding one back leg up

• Limping that comes and goes

• Difficulty jumping or climbing stairs

• Tight muscles in one or both back legs

As groomers, we sometimes notice these little signs during grooming. If you see this happening regularly, it’s always a good idea to check with your vet early.❤️
